The Other Shoe

It's been a minute since I've felt called to write another post. This one, however, has been lingering to be written for months. Much like many of the other posts, this one revolves around the famous idiom of when you hear "waiting for the other shoe to drop." It's been coming up a lot recently that I've been hearing this in movies, shows and in my daily life. Why is it that we continue to use this expression with events that occur in our lives? Waiting for the other shoe to drop. I decided to Google it and see where it originated from and it happens to be from the late 1800's early 1900's where residents in New York lived in apartment buildings that had thin walls and ceilings and would hear one shoe drop from their upstairs neighbor and waited for the other shoe to then also drop. Either way, it was meant as a negative expression as we know and that's how we are using it these days. Again, I feel as though we have heard this expression a million times in our lifetime and decide to use it when we are expecting something bad to happen anytime soon. You know how this goes. You know I will relate this back to the Law of Attraction. So let's create the scenario. You have been living your life on cruise control and just moseying along with all the good and bad that comes along. You refer to the good and bad as good luck and bad luck. Things that happen to you are by chance and like life is a gamble daily. How "lucky" that I'm here to tell you nothing is by luck or chance. You create your life. How many times have I repeated this? Enough times until people believe that they create everything that comes to them. The good, the bad, the ugly and beautiful. I added that last one in there because it’s important. So back to your scenario. You have been going through some bad times recently and believe that you are born unlucky. Maybe people like family, teachers or friends have told you growing up you're unlucky. Somehow, someway this has become your core belief. This is then the frequency, or radio signal you are projecting to the Universe. So why wouldn't the Universe show you more of what your core belief is? The law of attraction does not play unfairly. It shows you exactly what you are feeling and projecting the majority of your days. That's why I keep insisting you pay attention to your thoughts and in turn what you are projecting out. Think of the Care Bears. Each bear has a symbol and that's what it projects out. Is yours Funshine Bear or Grumpy Bear? Is it Love-a-Lot Bear or Good Luck Bear? You get to choose your Bear! If it's grumpy, it's ok! Just be mindful of which Bear it is. Think of the Care Bears to see what you're projecting on a daily basis. There is a famous quote by Lao Tzu that is pertinent to what I am speaking about. This famous Chinese philosopher was around in 571 BC and like many other historic figures knew about our thoughts and the law of attraction. His quote says, "watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny." That means your thoughts are the gateway to what ultimately leads to your destiny.
When going back into the scenario I spoke about earlier. If you have a core belief that you are unlucky and all of a sudden you hit a stroke of "good luck" you don't know what to do with it. You think that there was a glitch and the Universe decided to take pity on you and reward you. The Universe is here to guide you and support you by the way. Not take pity on you or torture you. You do that on your own. Sorry not sorry. Trust me, it took the hard way for me to figure that out. I had to go back and reevaluate my life growing up and see how I managed to attract all the incredible things into my life and also the not so incredible things and events into my life. So when you go through your bad times and some good comes in. SAVOR IT!! Appreciate it!! Say thank you God/Universe for this goodness. You need to practice this behavior in order to maintain and sustain it. That's why so many people bask in the good "luck" and then say they are waiting for the other shoe to drop because that's what they're used to. Guess what? If you truly believe that, the Universe will prove you right. You are meant to enjoy the good that you create. Maybe you went on vacation, maybe you spent extra time with your pet or children, or went to the beach or did something fun for yourself. That's what the Universe wants to see, you having FUN. That's when the stroke of "luck" shows up. Don't get me wrong, I love St. Patrick's Day, clovers, leprechauns, rainbows and pots of gold. I love ladybugs and anything that shows signs of good luck. I also know that when I see them, it's the Universe showing me my mindset is on track and I've been doing the mental work.
I recently rewatched the movie "Luck" on Disney. This movie is a great depiction of how everything I've been talking about works. Sam, the main character has a core belief that she is unlucky. She is in search of a lucky penny for her little foster sister so that she doesn't lose her ability to believe in luck. Throughout Sam's journey we see how she came to believe she's unlucky and how she grows and evolves with a little help from a new friend Bob the cat, that takes her to the world of leprechauns. Together they help each other find the true meaning of who they are and what they bring to this world. In the end they come to realize it was never a lucky penny that created their luck or prevented bad luck from happening. They got to see both worlds. That's what you need to understand. You need some "bad luck" to pivot and see all the good. In the lucky land they went to, they even had good luck in the above world and bad luck in the underworld. When they had to visit bad luck, you could see how the characters were having fun! One of the characters even said "stuff goes wrong all the time here..you just fix it and move on." They learn to find a way around it. So do that in your life. Find a way around what you are experiencing as "bad luck." Find a way to pivot your thoughts and in turn what you're projecting out. Take it all in and breathe. Take it easy. Trust in yourself and this Universe. Trust in the Law of Attraction. Trust in the thousands and millions that have come before you that have known you create your reality. I mean just go and research how many scholars, philosophers and people have been preaching about this from the beginning of time. It's time to really see how you can change your reality no matter what chaos is going on around you. If you choose to stay in chaos, then chaos is what you will live in. It's as easy as that. If you choose to watch the news constantly and stay in a state of panic and anxiety, that is what you will get. If you choose peace and disconnecting from those stressors, you will start to feel different. It just takes a bold shift from YOU and only you. Stop "waiting for the other shoe to drop" and just savor every minute, hour and day of your life when you can. If your shoe drops, accept it and put your shoe back on and get to steppin! It may even be time for some new shoes! Take life as it comes and don't let anyone dim your light. Don't let anyone tell you who you are because only you know how incredible you are. The only people that you should allow to tell you anything are the ones who tell you how incredible you are when you need a friendly, loving reminder from the Universe or your angels. They will show up, trust me. While you’re at it, keep looking for the lucky pennies, rainbows, clovers and ladybugs. They will remind you how close you are to your pot o’ gold! Whatever that pot is filled with for YOU!
