Spiritually Chic

On this journey of life, we are constantly learning, growing, and evolving. We are also hoping to find balance within ourselves and the world around us. Trying to find the duality and the yin to our yang and vice versa. We are trying to understand that there is always darkness so that one can see the light. Balance is quite important to maintain and yet we find it can be quite tedious. We are raised to be constantly moving towards a goal and or being pushed to fulfill a desire that sometimes may not even be our own. Previous generations were taught the same from their parents and families. It has been ingrained in us that in order to play hard we must work hard. Unfortunately, our parents and all the parents before them were not taught the real meaning of the Law of Attraction and that you actually don't have to work hard and be on overdrive to attain your goals. The Law of Attraction teaches you "that which is like unto itself is drawn." Simply meaning that the universe will reflect back to you what you've got going on inside. If you have been living in fear, anger or resentment, your day to day will reflect more of that around you. If you have been living with feelings of love, joy, peace, then the world around will also reflect that back to you. The greatest question is how does one focus on releasing the fears, worries, anger, and resentment? It takes emotional work through changing your thoughts, habits, and patterns. Most often, this is where most of us refer to as becoming spiritual. The processes of becoming "spiritual" can involve things like taking up yoga to control our breath, find balance and allow the flow of energies throughout our body and mind. It can also involve meditation to find stillness and allow ourselves to stop thoughts that do not serve us. It can also involve retreats, seminars, mentors, and even books that teach us processes and tools to use to help us evolve and enlighten us. As we "work" our way through our racing minds and emotions, we start to tap in more to our seed of intuition. The place where we are receiving guidance and following that guidance. You may recall throughout your life that you were led to doing things that sometimes appeared to be out of nowhere. Maybe you met the right person that answered a question you had, or you stumbled upon a new spot to hang out at, or maybe you took a different route and ended up discovering a new trail. Whatever it may be, your intuition was guiding you whether you were aware of it or not. Then life happened and you lost your way. Through your awareness of that, your tools of spirituality help remove the dirt and debris that dimmed your light. It's almost like the window that collects dust over time and you can't see out the window anymore. Then you bring out your environmental friendly glass cleaner and after a few minutes, the light shines brighter again. That's all it is when it comes to your gifts and intuition. You may even start to use oracle cards and tarot decks to help strengthen your psychic muscles. You may even feel drawn to study reiki and learn about the 7 chakras. You may even start talking to your angels, spirit guides, God, or as I like to call them all, my guidance team. Whatever you do, make sure you are all in. This is a different life than what you may have grown up in or have experienced in your upbringing.

I have titled this blog, Spiritually Chic. What could I possibly mean by that? I wanted to start by introducing what being spiritual is for me. There are many ways one can attain that. There are even many that use the term loosely to simply "fit in." One may start wearing jewelry with crystals and stones and think that alone will prove to others he or she is on the spiritual path. Whatever one decides to do, it is important to understand that the intent is what matters. If looking at the jewelry reminds one to stay inspired, then he or she is on the right track. I have seen many tell me they are spiritual and do yoga and wear their crystals, but then treat others unkindly. I don't judge them, but instead bless them for trying to be better however long that may take.

I lived most of my life growing up with very humble parents. We didn't grow up with any glitz or glamour since my parents worked hard to establish a life for us here in America after leaving Iran. My parents and grandmother did the best they could to show us their love and allow us to explore the world around us. When I started college, I realized that I had a love for expensive items. This included clothes, shoes, accessories, and handbags. On top of all of that, I loved to travel first and foremost. I was willing to forgo a purchase in order to book my next ticket to Europe. I must also admit that most of my purchases were put on my credit card. Now, I should also be clear to state that I never went overboard. I always waited to purchase items that were on my wishlist. I had specific brands that I indulged in. I had a love for Louis Vuitton, brand name jeans, specific cars, and jewelry. When I made these purchases, they actually brought me joy. I didn't purchase them in order to bring the happiness or joy that was missing, but to enhance it. I now also realized that I was a powerful creator and didn't even know it then. I had a mental wishlist of everything that I wanted and I got most of all of it. I was traveling and finding incredible items like clothes that helped me recreate that upliftment I felt when I came back home. I was always trying to find ways to find upliftment in my life. When I was thrown into the "spiritual" journey, my way of living changed. My life was redirected and taken into my angels' hands. It was time to dig deep and truly do my innerwork. I stopped my expensive purchases, paid off my high credit card debt and basically started from scratch. I started to sell most of the items that no longer brought me joy. I gave away most of my possessions and started cleaning house, which also helped clean my soul. I went into another extreme. I felt bad about all the money I had spent in those times and how much I felt I had wasted. The simple life was just as good and my chic life. Did I really want to put the chic life aside? The answer is, NO. After a few years of living a simple, spiritual life, I missed my chic life. I realized that I needed to live that chic life in that extreme form, then live the simple life in order to find that balance I was talking about earlier. When we look back on our lives, we are to find that there was always a greater plan. That is IF, we are brave enough to look back and put together the puzzle pieces. There is an incredible Steve Jobs quote that was shared with me that encompasses this whole journey. He says, "Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something-your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life." So, remember that you are the sole creator of your reality. You must believe that you have paths that are leading you to greatness. The secret is that there isn't just ONE path, there are many. The paths are all connected and ultimately leading you to all of your desires and wishes. The key is to try to always take the path of least resistance in all of your endeavors. That will always make the difference. Lead a life that embraces love, joy, peace and harmony as much as you can and see how the world around you shows up the same way. Our goal is to find heaven right here on Earth and the only way to that starts with YOU. If that means meditating, doing yoga, or even wearing all the stones you are called to, so be it. When you start to believe it, you will begin to see it. It all starts with taking one step at a time. Show yourself and the world all that you have to offer and do it fearlessly and boldy!
